The building within which Europa House is located was constructed in the 17th century. The building, therefore, was accessible during the period of the Knights of Saint John. A number of ship graffiti were discovered at this site.

A defaced ship graffito, identified only by the ship’s hull.

This example of a ship graffito is partially hidden due to works carried out on the stone. The decorated stern is visible together with a flag and two cannon ports.

A galleon is depicted. Its typology can be identified by its square sail rigging, hull dimensions, beakhead and decorated stern. The flag of the Order was etched on the ship’s stern.

Drawn with a dark-coloured implement on the wall is a representation of a ship. The two masts carrying square rigging can be identified together with a tall stern and a row of cannon ports. Flags are depicted, flying from masts.

A damaged ship graffito can only be identified from three lateen sails rigged on masts. The hull and forward half of the ship can no longer be seen.

This ship graffito is drawn on the wall with a dark-coloured implement, not etched. The ship’s hull is visible complete with two masts and a mizzen. The typology is difficult to discern.
