Lazzaretto is a historical structure which used to serve as a hospital and quarantine space from the 16th until the19th century. Located at the shoreline on Manoel Island, Lazzaretto has a strong maritime link. It is most famous for its role as a quarantine and hospital during the plague of 1952-93 and the epidemic of 1813-14.
