This Polverista is located within Fort Manoel along St Helen’s Bastion. Fort Manoel was constructed in the 18th century and defended Marsamxett harbour. A polverista is a powder magazine and Fort Manoel had two dating to 1727 – 1729. One of the magazines was demolished, leaving the polverista on St Helen’s bastion as the only surviving example. This polverista went through a restoration process which started in 2004.
