The Parish Church of St Philip of Agira is situated in the heart of Żebbuġ. The original church was built between 1380 and 1412 and was financed by Filippo de Catania, replacing a Medieval church that was built in the 14th century. The present church of St Philip of Agira was built between 1599 and 1632 following plans drawn by architect Vittorio Cassar. It was enlarged by architect Tommaso Dingli to accommodate more people and dedicated to St Philip on May 13, 1729. The last modification occurred in 1913, when the side aisles were added. The church is still active. Ship graffiti can be found on the facade, at ground level, and on the steeple and spire.
