The Church of St. Therese was constructed in 1626. A strong influence of the Baroque style can be noticed in the church’s architecture. During the seventeenth century, the church belonged to the Discalced Carmelite Friars. Besides this, the church also served as an International College for Discalced Friars that wanted to go on Missions. Nowadays, it acts as a Novitiate.

This graffito is unique as it is drawn, not etched, in a grey-black pigment. It spans across multiple stone blocks. There are two lateen-rigged masts on the topside of a detailed yet faded hull. This graffito likely dates to the period of the Knights of St. John in Malta.

This graffito has sustained damage due to stone erosion and the removal of a surface layer. Nonetheless, the ship’s hull and sails can still be made out. The two-masted ship is lateen-rigged as depicted as seen from its starboard side.

A great amount of detail is visible on this graffito. Two masts are visible along with a beak at the bow and a flag at the stern. It also depicts the coat of arms of the Knights of St. John. Such a feature helps to identify this large ship as a possible galleon.
