This 17th century chapel is located in the village of Lija. This small chapel is known for the miracle that reportedly happened inside the chapel. One of the paintings featuring the Holy Mary holding Baby Jesus was seen crying. The following day, an earthquake shook the Island but caused no damage.

Ship Graffiti - A small graffito of a ship is located on the chapel’s facade. The ship has two lateen sails and a series of parallel lines below the hull represent oars. This ship has a flag on top of the masts. The graffito is likely depicting a galley.

Religious Iconography - An elongated semi-circular etching carrying a cross at its top extremity is likely a religious symbol.

Initials - The letters ‘LM’, likely indicating initials, have been etched on the chapel’s side.

Buildings - A tower similar in style to the coastal watchtowers built in Malta in the 17th century can be seen. This is accompanied by a second tower. Of note is that the entrance to these towers is not at ground level. The text ‘BURG ANTONIO’ is etched on top of the towers.

Buildings - Two archways belonging to the fortification scene are visible in this photo.

Buildings - A depiction of a fortification has been etched lengthwise along a course of stone located on the chapel’s facade. Individual stone blocks have been etched to form a scene. This scene has unfortunately been damaged and only parts of it are visible.

Buildings - A castle is etched on the facade of the chapel. It has two towers and an arched door. A chequered flag is flying on top.
